About The Role
We now have a great opportunity for a full time Technical Assistant to join our team at Living Earth, located at Christchurch. Living Earth operates the Christchurch City Council kerbside organics processing facility producing certified organic compost from foodwaste and greenwaste.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Completing sampling and inspections of compost during the composting process and report and record results
- Managing data collection of windrow monitoring including uploading data, reviewing data and reporting on results
- Ensuring product quality is maintained in the compost operations (temperature, moisture, density, oxygen) and that compliance with NZS4454:2005 is achieved
- Completing compost product testing in accordance with the required standards and resource consents and report on compliance
- Co-ordinating day to day composting operations to ensure scheduling and plans are achieved
- Assisting with the planning of compost operations (blending, moisture levels, airflows, mix ratios, density, mix porosity, volumes, duration/ stage and location)
- Assisting with the planning and scheduling of windrow turning, windrow watering and movements and compost screening on site
To be successful in this role you will need to have:
- A tertiary qualification in science, environmental, technical or related fields may assist but is not a necessity.
- Technical amplitude and good problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Good computer skills with common software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, Internet) and common platforms (PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone).
- Resilience and adaptability to deal with a very variable operating environment
- Can do attitude and thrive in being part of a team.
