Driver - Liquid/Hazardous - Class 5

About the Role

We now have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Driver – Class 5 to join our friendly and supportive Technical Services team based in Rotorua. 

In this role, you will be responsible for operating company vehicles and operational skills for the collection, treatment and disposal of liquid and hazardous waste in a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible manner in accordance with our company's values, objectives and quality policies to ensure the service provided meets or exceeds our customers’ expectations.

The Key responsibilities of the position will include:

  • The collection of liquid hazardous, chemical or medical waste streams as required while complying with the laws regarding the transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Operating and participating in a safe working environment.
  • Participating in a call out roster to cover after hour’s responses.
  • Operating the vehicles in a safe, efficient and effective manner whilst adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Accurately completing all required documentation.

Skills and experience

  • Relevant driving experience with class 5 license, with current DG endorsement and experience in the transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Physically fit and have a strong Health and Safety focus.
  • Excellent communication skills including possessing a courteous manner and having good written and oral skills with a great customer service approach. 
  • A ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team. 
  • Able to work on-call during the weekends and public holidays when required due to the nature of the role.
