About The Role

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a highly efficient and motivated Health Safety and Environmental professional to join our team at Waste Management covering Auckland and Northland.

 

This challenging and rewarding position will report directly to the New Zealand National HSE Manager and require the successful candidate to provide assistance and advice to Branch Managers, Area Managers, Regional Managers, and the General Manager within their work area.

 

You will be required to assist in the implementation and maintenance of the health, safety, environmental, and quality components of WM's Integrated Management System ensuring focus is applied at all times to our Critical Risk management framework. This will be achieved by providing functional, technical, and consultative support to the branches and workers as required ensuring business awareness of relevant OHSE statutory compliance and effective risk and incident management.

 

To be successful in this role;

You will need to have a formal H&S or Environmental qualification, drive a positive safety culture, and lead by example. You also need to be a highly effective communicator at all levels both written and verbal, and possess a high level of experience in Health, Safety, or Environmental field with excellent up to date HSNO, Earthworks, and HSWA knowledge and application within NZ workplaces.

 

Knowledge of ACC Partnership Programme, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS/NZ 4801 is also required, along with Risk Management ISO 31000.

 

You will need to demonstrate practical application of workplace health, safety and environmental legislation; incident investigation experience and a do it once, do it right approach. Knowledge of HSE management in a resource recovery, reuse and recycling industry (or similar) is highly advantageous.

 

Your self-motivation, with strong planning and time management skills, will help you to succeed alongside an ability to work under pressure.
