About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity has been made available at Waste Management NZ for a Specialist Chemical HSE Advisor. Reporting directly to the National HSE Manager, this position also works very closely with the General Manager for the Technical Service Division, Process Safety Manager, and Regional and Branch Managers for the division.
Waste Management Technical Division has a number of chemical processing plants throughout New Zealand with the Auckland site meeting the requirements of a Major Hazard Facility Lower tier. There are also sites in Christchurch, Hamilton, and Auckland that treat and process green waste.
This position is a hands-on role making sure all HSEQ systems are in place and being followed, and that Process Safety is front of mind for all relevant activities.
This high-risk industry requires a person who will continue to develop the current systems ensuring above industry standard is achieved today and for the future.
To be considered for this role you must have minimum of 5 years Chemical Engineering experience, a Chemical Engineering qualification, and H&S or Environmental qualification. You must also have in depth knowledge of the current New Zealand Major Hazard Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act, Hazardous Substances Regulations, and preferable have been involved with the ACC Partnership Programme.
Effective verbal and written communication is of paramount importance considering the detail this role requires. Advantages would also assist if you have experience with Vault and Meercat systems.
