About the role

Waste Disposal Services, a 50/50 joint venture with Waste Management & Auckland Council have an opportunity for an experienced Supervisor to join our team based in East Tamaki. In this role you will be responsible for the daily functions of this busy transfer station; Health & Safety, Productivity and Customer Experience being your upmost priority. Liaison with key service providers and wider company initiatives will enable you to expand experience and skills. This is a demanding hands-on role with potential opportunities for the right candidate to develop into an operations career. Waste Disposal Services is operated by Waste Management NZ Ltd.

Key responsibilities of the position will include:

• Co-ordinating and carrying out the daily functions of the transfer station including the weighbridge, staffing, Truck/ skip provisions, site infrastructure, compactors, mobile plant and overall housekeeping.
• Organising & supervising site staff, communication needs and minor local HR issues. Close liaison with the Joint venture manager.
• Point contact to deal with any arising site issues, both internally or via external customers.
• A working knowledge & preferable operational experience of mobile machinery, such as wheeled loaders and Excavators, also fixed plant operation
• Tracking productivity and improving the sites overall efficiency.
• Dealing with the public and trade customers
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards
• Completing all records and paperwork timely & accurately
• Setting the company’s expectations through your own actions on site.

To be successful in this role you must have:

• Previous experience as a leading hand, team leader or supervisor in a similar environment
• WTR’s – with working experience, (required)
• Class 2 license (desirable)
